BEFORE YOUR FIRST COURSE

Build a Useful Starting Point.

Before attending, work toward being comfortable running one mile and performing 15 consecutive push-ups. This is a recommended preparation target, not a minimum admission test or a substitute for medical clearance. CBT graduation has its own fitness standards; Ranger courses have additional published entry and performance requirements.

Use the preparation period to build consistent habits. Read the course’s current standards with your family and complete all required medical paperwork before training.

Cadet Basic Training Graduation Standards.

XMC’s published test measures push-ups in two minutes, sit-ups in two minutes and a timed two-mile run. Physical Fitness Tests are administered at least once each week during training. Use the current Parents’ Guide for the applicable scoring chart and complete standards.

150Minimum combined score for CBT graduation

Prepare with Purpose.

CBT does not require an arrival fitness score, but graduation standards apply. The Cadet Fitness Challenge can be combined with CBT to build fitness and habits before the course.

Ranger Entry and Graduation Are Different.

Returning-Cadet entry: the published XMC PFT entry score is 180 total points. The XMC entry PFT uses two-minute push-ups, two-minute sit-ups and a timed two-mile run.

Ranger graduation: the higher course standard includes two-minute push-ups and sit-ups, strict pull-ups, a five-mile run, an eight-mile foot march and the training and leadership evaluations. Use the complete age-band table and march requirements on the course page.
