CADET FIELD LEADER COURSE 2 Weeks

The Cadet Field Leader Course (CFLC) is a two-week foundational leadership program. Cadets develop leadership traits, communication, resource management and critical thinking while learning how to contribute to a team.

This is a heavily field-based program, with teamwork exhibited in a fireteam, squad and platoon environment. The course concludes with field-based missions to test the Cadets on their ability to problem-solve while working as a team.

CFLC attendees must have graduated from Cadet Basic Training. Cadets may return after a previous year or complete CBT and CFLC consecutively in the same summer.

This course challenges the Cadets to become the best version of themselves in a leadership position.

The Army trains Soldiers based on the philosophy of CRAWL- WALK - RUN. In order to run, you must know how to walk. To walk, you must have learned to crawl.

Recruits learn to "Crawl" in Cadet Basic Training. The basic skills and experiences are built upon through the Cadet Field Leader Course where it's time to "Walk." Most learn best when the two courses are attended back-to-back, for a total of four weeks.

Recommended for age 15+.

THURSDAY BEFORE CFLC GRADUATION

The Gauntlet.
Earn the Badge Together.

The Gauntlet is Cadet Field Leader Course’s culminating rite of passage: a multi-hour, extreme experience that tests Cadets physically and mentally. It takes place on the Thursday before CFLC graduation.

It fills a role at XMC similar to the Crucible, Battle Stations and the Forge: a demanding final experience built around teamwork, perseverance and accomplishing the mission. Individual effort matters, but success depends on the team.

Every CFLC Cadet must complete the Gauntlet before earning the Cadet Field Leader badge. Cadets put their leadership, communication and problem-solving skills to work when the mission is difficult and the team is counting on them.

Watch the Gauntlet on Facebook ↗ · After the Gauntlet: the Challengers’ Feast ↗

After the Challenge, a Shared Celebration.

At the end of the Gauntlet, parent volunteers may host the donation-supported Challengers’ Feast. All Cadets on post may attend; Recruits may not.
