CADET FITNESS CHALLENGE

The Cadet Fitness Challenge is a one-week program designed to help prepare Cadets and recruits for the rigors of Cadet Basic Training, Cadet Field Leader Course and Cadet Ranger School.

Cadets and recruits will be coached through an intense daily fitness regimen which is designed to improve their strength, align eating habits with a healthy diet, and increase endurance.

The course will be led by a certified fitness coach and XMC staff.  This is not a stand-alone course.  It must be taken in conjunction with other XMC courses.

The Cadet Fitness Challenge was developed by Sergeant First Class Darin Elkins. “Sergeant Elkins brings a remarkable background in physical fitness and health to our Cadet Fitness Challenge,” said Colonel Joseph M. Land, Sr., XMC, the Commander of Extreme Military Challenge! and President of Liberty Communications, LLC. “…as the father of two former Cadets, he also has a deep appreciation for the importance of our programs. I am very enthusiastic about having him take point on specialized Cadet fitness training.”

SFC Elkins is a retired Soldier with a distinguished military career. His assignments included serving as the sole enlisted advisor for the System for Health at the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy and the Office of The Surgeon General (OTSG); the NCOIC for the Department of Health, Education, and Training, the Leader Development Branch at the AMEDD Center and School; 86th Combat Support Hospital, Task Force Mosul, Iraq; Physical Disability Agency, Walter Reed Army Medical Center; and Darnall Army Community Hospital, two tours in Yongsan, Korea and Kenner Army Community Hospital, Fort Lee, VA.

Throughout his military career, SFC Elkins earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration and a Masters Degree in Exercise Science and Performance Enhancement from the University of California, Pennsylvania. His awards include induction into The Order of Military Medical Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd award), Combat Action Badge, Master Fitness Trainer, Combatives Instructor (Level 2), Master Resiliency Trainer and Arbinger Trainer.

SFC Elkins developed the Restorative Physical Readiness Training program to increase medical readiness by streamlining a Soldier’s return to duty through proper reconditioning. He is also responsible for revising significant blocks of instruction and adding orthopedic medicine elements to the Combat Medic Training, which directly impacted over 1,000 medics in garrison and downrange including multi-component, joint force service members.
